KS3 – Year 7

Physical Unit pupils will be expected to control movements, link movements together with quality and combine skills with fluency and accuracy alongside being effective in competitive situations.

Social and Personal Skills (assessed through rotation 1):

Pupils will be given the opportunity to show:

  • Self-motivation : desire to achieve, setting realistic targets and taking practical steps to improve
  • Self-management: taking the initiative and creating action plans to reach my targets
  • Resilience: have self-belief and confidence, try new challenges and discuss strengths and managing emotions

Thinking Skills (assessed through rotation 2):

Pupils will be given the opportunity to show:

  • Evaluation: actively observe and listen, take time to reflect and recognise strengths and weaknesses
  • Innovation: explore options, suggest solutions, is able to try things out

 

KS3 – Years 8

Physical Unit pupils will be expected to control movements, link movements together with quality and combine skills with fluency and accuracy alongside being effective in a variety of competitive situations

 

Social and Personal Skills (assessed through rotation 1):

Pupils will be given the opportunity to show:

  • Collaboration: actively listen to others, agree a common goal, offer constructive feedback, celebrate our joint successes
  • Communication: make eye contact with the speaker, summarise to show understanding, draw on examples and evidence to support my arguments and present information clearly, concisely and accurately
  • Motivating and influencing others with empathy: see situations from other peoples’ perspectives, include everyone and encourage others to join in

Thinking Skills (assessed through rotation 2):

Pupils will be given the opportunity to show:

  • Evaluation: use data evidence to inform my targets, review progress against targets and suggest improvements

Innovation: question assumptions, generate and adapt ideas to suit the circumstance and seek to trial positive risk

 

 

KS3 – Year 9

Physical Unit Pupils will be expected to combine skills with fluency and accuracy. Apply skills with consistency across a range of sports in competitive situations. Perform skills efficiently making adjustments to technique.

Social and Personal Skills (assessed through rotation 1):

Pupils will be given the opportunity to show:

  • Responsibility: Reflect on my attitude, behaviour and actions and their impacts on myself/others and know how to change them to get a positive result and offer. Give detailed and constructive feedback to others.
  • Integrity: Respect the rules or challenge them constructively and appropriately, stand up for what I believe is right and treat others fairly.
  • Empathy: Accept and value differences, recognise others’ support needs and judge actions rather than people.

Thinking Skills (assessed through rotation 1):

Pupils will be given the opportunity to show:

  • Evaluation: Set success criteria, analyse how effective a strategy is and suggest detailed improvements.
