KS4 – Year 10

Topic: Portraits – Mood and Emotion.
Assessment: Pupils will explore how different artists use colour, composition, expression and bold contrasts of light and shadow to create mood and emotion in their work. They will develop their own work, making links to RE Human Rights, through Amnesty International and RE lessons. They will experiment with a variety of materials, including pencil, charcoal and acrylic paint. Pupils will produce a unit of work following the Assessment Objectives in the AQA GCSE Specification.

Topic: Architecture/Pattern
Assessment: Pupils will experiment with lino, collagraph & mono-printing, using imagery relating to architecture as a source of inspiration. Pupils will produce a unit of work following the Assessment Objectives in the AQA GCSE Specification.
Dates: March 2016

Topic: Culture
Assessment: Pupils will construct a life sized torso using mod-rock and Papier Mache. The surface pattern and decoration will be based on a culture researched by individual pupils. Pupils will produce a unit of work following the Assessment Objectives in the AQA GCSE Specification.

KS4 – Year 11

Topic: Mock Exam
Assessment: Week commencing 21 September 2015 – Mock exam paper given out: Pupils given last year’s GCSE exam paper, includes 7 weeks preparation for the 10 hour exam. Pupils will produce work following the Assessment Objectives in the AQA GCSE Specification. Week commencing 23 November 2015 (exact dates to be confirmed) 10 hours of exam spread over two weeks.

Topic: Coursework Improvements
Assessment: 30 November 2015 – 15 January 2016 – Decide on units of work to be submitted for coursework portfolio and make improvements.

Topic: Final Exam
Assessment: Week commencing 18 January 2016 – Final GCSE exam paper given out: 7 weeks preparation for GCSE exam – classwork and homework produced in the 7 weeks preparation time leading up to the exam is marked with the work produced in the final 10 hour exam and worth 40% of the overall mark for GCSE. Week commencing 14 March 2016 (exact dates to be confirmed 10 hours of exam spread over two weeks).
