Important Update

05 November 2020

Dear Parent/Carer(s)

I hope you do not mind me contacting you again to keep you updated regarding the government’s latest COVID-19 guidance and our response to it at Penryn College. The guidance for schools during these new restrictions arrived with us yesterday afternoon, and the plans are expected to be implemented by Monday 9 November. I want to be clear and keep you up to date about everything we are doingso I will be in contact with you in the coming days until everything is in place.

Face coverings

We planned to introduce face coverings on Monday 9 Novemberbut now feel it is right to move more quickly on this. Tomorrow, during period one, we will brief students on wearing face coverings, and will then move to our new rules that face coverings should be used when moving through the buildingthey are not required in classrooms. Therefore, please could you make sure that your child arrives at school tomorrow (Friday 6 November) with a face covering. If your child is exempt from wearing a face covering, or you feel that they should be, please contact Mrs Cooper on vcooper@penryn-college.cornwall.sch.uk.

Attendance

The government have made it clear that they expect all students to attend school unless they are extremely clinically vulnerable. If your child is in this category, then please contact Mrs Cooper on vcooper@penryn-college.cornwall.sch.uk. We do know that some students, while not clinically vulnerable themselves, are living in situations where a family member is extremely clinically vulnerable. If you wish to talk to us about this, please contact Mrs Pyatt on jpyatt@penryn-college.cornwall.sch.uk.

Afterschool activities

Government guidance has been updated in relation to afterschool activities, which we are currently reviewing. We know that many parents and carers have made plans for students to attend our extra-curricular activities, but please be reassured that our new arrangements do not need to be in place until Monday 9 November. Therefore, clubs and activities will go ahead today (Thursday 5 November) and tomorrow (Friday 6 November)I will confirm next week’s after-school arrangements in my update tomorrow.

As ever, if you have any further questions or any feedbackplease do not hesitate to contact me.
