Marking Holocaust Memorial Day

To mark this year’s Holocaust Memorial Day (27 January), many of our students placed candles in their windows at home to remember those who lost their lives in the Holocaust, and as a stand against prejudice in the world today.

Holocaust Memorial Day marks the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau – the largest Nazi death camp – and, last week, students attended an assembly on this year’s theme, ‘Fragility of Freedom’, where they were encouraged to light candles as a mark of respect.
