Mrs Schouten’s Role as Headteacher

03 November 2023

Please see below Mrs Schouten’s message to parents/carers regarding her role as Headteacher, as featured in this week’s newsletter.

Dear Parent/Carer(s)

Many of you will remember that I accepted the role as Headteacher of Penryn College – a role that I have loved – for two years. That time will come to an end in August 2024.

After 33 years of teaching, and 21 of those at Penryn College, it is time for me to try something new for the last few years of my working life – something I have always planned to do. I will be leaving teaching in August, at the end of this academic year.

It has been a real privilege to lead this wonderful school, and whilst I will miss it hugely, I still have 10 months left to enjoy before I step down. It has always been important for me to be open and up front with parents/carers, so I wanted to let you know as early as possible.

Whilst I remain entirely committed to Penryn College, the staff, students, parents/carers, and wider community until the end of the academic year, please be assured that our Governors have already begun considering the process for appointing a new headteacher. They will keep you updated as this process takes shape.

Penryn College will always hold a piece of my heart. It truly is a special place to work.

Thank you, as always, for all of your support.

Tamsin Schouten
Headteacher
