Sebastien and Dora Appointed Head Boy and Head Girl for 2019/20
24 July 2019Penryn College is delighted to officially announce the appointment of Sebastien Gentile and Dora Revell as 2019/20 Head Boy and Head Girl, along with 11 senior prefects and a wider prefect team.
Sebastien and Dora – who will begin the next academic year as Year 11 pupils – applied for the posts earlier this year, before being shortlisted and subsequently interviewed in front of a panel consisting of Mr Walker (Headteacher), Mr Mather (Assistant Head), a school governor, and former Head Boy and Head Girl, Mace and Hollie.
Assisting Sebastien and Dora in their duties will be Senior Prefects Bryony, Finlay, George, Jamie, James, Joe, Lucy, Myah, Rosie, Tegan, and Zara, and a wider prefect team.
And, reflecting on being appointed to their new roles, both Sebastien and Dora revealed their excitement and delight.
“When I was told that I had been appointed, I felt a huge sense of achievement and accomplishment,” said Dora.
“I’m really looking forward to working with our prefect team to mentor and support the younger students across the school, as well as being an approachable and friendly role model for all of the pupils. I’m also looking forward to representing the school at future events,” she continued.
And Sebastien said: “I feel incredibly happy in being appointed, because I have a really big opportunity to give back to the school.
“I’m really looking forward to welcoming everyone back after the summer holidays, because it will be a new year and I can really help encourage and support my fellow pupils.”
Indeed, since being appointed to their new roles, Sebastien and Dora have presented a number of the school’s Achievement Awards, and revealed how they’ve enjoyed those experiences.
“I’m very proud to present events which celebrate the progress and success of all of the students at Penryn College,” said Dora.
“With that, I’ve really enjoyed becoming more involved in the wider school community, and I’m very happy to be an ambassador for my peers across the school.”
And Sebastien mirrored Dora’s thoughts. He said: “I’ve really enjoyed presenting events since my appointment – I feel like I am representing the school and doing something good in the community.”
With the new school term beginning on Thursday 5 September, Sebastien, Dora, and the team of prefects have the summer to prepare for the 2019/20 school year, and Penryn College Assistant Head, Mr Mather, revealed his high expectations of the new recruits.
“Sebastien and Dora have made a strong start in their new roles, and are leading an excellent team of prefects who have also demonstrated their fantastic abilities.
“I know they are all looking forward to giving something back to the school – and I can’t wait to see them excel in their new roles after the summer break,” concluded Mr Mather.
