Mrs Childs accompanies the Saracen Choir singing ‘White Christmas’

On Tuesday 13th December we held our 2016 Penryn College Christmas Concert – it’s a showpiece of talent for our students and a magnificent event that is always sold out.  This year parents, staff and governors were delighted by a stunning repertoire of musical performances.

The ever enthusiastic and multi-talented Mrs Sarah Childs and Mrs Gill Harries  led choirs and ensembles through the programme, ably assisted and supported by the school’s peripatetic music teachers and musicians and singers from Penryn College staff.

The evening was hosted charmingly by school prefects and readings were delivered by Ms Hunter, Mr Walker, and the Head Boy and Head Girl.  Kernewek Hall was packed as usual with parents, governors and staff, and the communal Christmas carols were sung with enthusiasm.

This was the last public engagement for Ms Hunter as headteacher and she was surprised by a beautiful candlelit rendition of ‘Let It Be’ (a favourite song) by the College Choir as a touching farewell gesture from the college students and staff.

The Mayor of Penryn, Mark Snowdon gave Ms Hunter heartfelt thanks for her 21 years work in the community and presented her with a gift from the town of Penryn.  A collection at the door raised funds for ‘Stanley’s Friends’.
