Students Experience Insightful and Inspiring Day at RNAS Culdrose
20 March 2024Tuesday saw 30 of our Year 9 students visit RNAS Culdrose to attend a fantastic STEM-based Inspirational Outreach Day, organised by the Jon Egging Trust.
The event involved a talk from the Royal Navy Careers Team – who shared details on their career paths and the different opportunities available in the Navy – before a visit to the Engineering and Merlin training facilities, where pupils boarded a replica Merlin helicopter which is used to train the engineers.
Additionally, our pupils got a glimpse of the state-of-the-art flight simulators that only pilots are allowed to use. That was before they took part in a challenge where they were tasked with making an anchor using large Meccano equipment.
All teams worked extremely well, using communication, listening and leadership skills.
Thank you to the Jon Egging Trust and the Royal Navy.
