Tombstoning

Captain Mark Killingback M.N.I.

Harbour Master Truro and Penryn

” A leap into the unknown”. Today my staff removed a wooden stake from the vicinity of the bridge. I spoke to several young people and mentioned the possibility of vandals throwing a shopping trolley into the river. Would they jump from height into a trolley for example!!

The other issue is swimming near marine craft. Propellers and people do not mix. Fishing boats and commercial craft may not see swimmers in the harbour before it is too late. Keep away from any powered craft operating in the harbour. Even small outboard engines have the potential to cause life changing injuries.

In summary “Do not leap into the unknown”. When swimming keep clear of powered craft, they may not see you before it is too late.
