Weekly Highlights: 25 February – 1 March

04 March 2019

Exams, sports and activities were the main themes at Penryn College last week – as students and teachers got back into action following the half-term break.

Some beautiful February sunshine helped kick the week off in the perfect manner, as the Year 11 drama exams got underway in Kernewek Hall on Tuesday, running through until Friday. Tyres, tree branches and wheelbarrows were among the host of props scattered across the assembly hall, as part of the drama assessments.

Wednesday saw Penryn College’s sports teams venture to Somerset, where they visited Millfield School for a fantastic day of sports fixtures against Millfield’s pupils.

With sporting facilities of the highest standards, Millfield School is renowned for its sporting success – and Penryn’s students competed fantastically well throughout the day. The U16 and U14 Netball Teams registered a win and a draw, respectively. The U16 Rugby Team lost 52-31 in what was a thrilling encounter. And the U13 and U15 Academy Football Teams lost 4-2 and 4-1, respectively.

Heading into Thursday – January and February’s Year 11 Mock Exam results were made available to students and parents/guardians. Results were sent via post and can also be accessed under the ‘Reports’ tab on pupils’ Virtual School page.

Concluding the week, Penryn College welcomed Penryn Primary’s Reception pupils to the school for a Friday afternoon full of bike riding, as part of the Strider Bike Festival.
