Weekly Update
03 July 2020Please see Mr Walker’s latest update below:
Good afternoon. I hope you are well and have had a good week so far.
We are nearly there! Next week is the final week of work being set for Year 7, 8 and 9 students. Work will be on the system by midday on Monday 6 July, and needs to be completed by Friday 10 July at 10.00am. Year 10 pupils have two weeks to go. Please urge your child to keep going – they are so close!
Yesterday, the government published guidance for opening all schools for all year groups in September. We are now studying this, and planning how we will use this guidance to deliver the best experience for all students, while keeping everybody as safe as possible. We should have initial plans regarding this next week; we will communicate these in our next update. As always, do not hesitate contact me if you need to talk anything through.
However, before September arrives, we also need to focus on ending this term in the best possible way! The students have been fantastic during these uncertain times, and the support you have provided as parents/carers is hugely appreciated.
As we approach the end of the term, I thought it would be useful to remind you of some key dates:
- Friday 10 July: Year 7, 8 and 9 final work completion day;
- 13 – 17 July: Year 7, 8 and 9 Virtual Activities Week;
- 13 – 17 July: Year 10’s final working week. Pupils will still attend their day on the school site;
- Week beginning 20 July: We will focus on preparing the College and students for the next academic year. This will involve inviting some students in for catch–up sessions.
Key Stage 3 (Year 7, 8 and 9) Virtual Activities Week: 13 – 17 July
We have over 75 activities for students to choose from for our first-ever Virtual Activities Week. We hope it will be great fun for our pupils! Our Lifestyle department will launch the Activities Week on Monday 6 July. An online information booklet will be made available to students – they must sign up for activities by Wednesday 8 July. Parents/carers of Year 7, 8 and 9 pupils – please click here to access an important Activities Week letter.
Catch–up sessions
We will be analysing all classes and students to understand where they are in their studies, and what work they need to catch up on in order to make a good start to next year. If your child has any work we believe would be useful for them to catch up on, we will call you on the afternoon of Friday 17 July, and make arrangements for them to join us during the week beginning Monday 20 July.
Accessing the school site
We are delighted the work on the STP is now underway, but this does mean access from the Poltisko Road entrance is now unavailable. All students must enter and exit via the main entrance to the school site.
Head Boy & Girl/Senior Prefect applications
We will e-mail all Year 10 students on Monday 13 July with details of the application process for the Head Boy & Girl and Senior Prefect positions.
Year 11
Earlier this week, we sent an email to all Year 11 parents/carers providing details of how to return school equipment, particularly iPads. Please read and follow the requests, as we have much to prepare for September! You can also click here to access this letter via our website.
As usual, if you have any questions or concerns please contact me.
Enjoy your weekend and take care.
