Year 11 Update
01 July 2020FAO Year 11 parents and carers:
Good afternoon. I hope you are well.
I am writing to you to detail some of the last bits and bobs before we finish the term.
Firstly, we are committed to our Leavers’ Day and Prom. We haven’t forgotten, I promise. The magical Mrs Ohly is in charge, so you know it will be good. She will talk to students about their ideas. If there are any parents/carers who have any thoughts or ideas, I am sure she would gladly involve them as well.
Returning equipment
Now it gets even more serious. We could do with all of our equipment back for other students to use!
Therefore, we would like to invite students in to return their equipment. This includes iPads, iPad boxes (if available), original iPad plugs and leads, and any library books and revision guides/subject books that have been loaned to students. This is also an opportunity to collect the yearbook, and any items from lockers, as well as arranging refunds for money that may be owed to you. Please see the information at the bottom of this e-mail on how these refunds will be issued.
Students are invited to come into the College on different days according to their house, to minimise the number of pupils on site at any one time, as follows:
Wednesday 8 July, 1.00pm – 4.00pm – Gluvias
Thursday 9 July, 1.00pm – 4.00pm – Pendennis
Monday 13 July, 1.00pm – 4.00pm – Arwenack
Tuesday 14 July, 1.00pm – 4.00pm – Killigrew
Friday 10 July and Wednesday 15 July, 1.00pm – 4.00pm – By appointment only, for those who cannot attend on their house day. Please e-mail secretary@penryn-college.cornwall.sch.uk to make an appointment.
If you have school uniform that you would like to donate to Tanya’s Courage Trust via the school, please ask your child to bring this with them and we will store it and send it on when possible. The students in the ARB are keen to take part in an enterprise project, and would be grateful for any PE kit that you may wish to donate to help with this.
Exam Results Day
Finally, we look forward to our Results Day. We are currently trying to work out how this will look and feel for everyone; we will come up with our plan in the next few weeks.
Refunds
Outstanding balances for locker deposits, catering accounts and printing accounts will be refunded once all items due to be returned to the College have been collected. A slip will then be provided to your child to bring home to you, detailing how your refund will be paid. In order to limit the amount of cash handling, refunds will be made via three different methods as follows:
Refunds over £17 – Refunds will be arranged via BACS, directly to your bank account. Your child will be given a slip on the day for you to complete with your bank account details. You can either return the slip to the College reception, or e-mail your details directly to our Finance team’s e-mail address (details will be provided on slip).
Refunds for less than £17 where a yearbook has been purchased – Refunds will be arranged via ParentPay, directly to your child’s ParentPay account, where you will be able to log in and withdraw the funds. We are only able to refund where an item has already been purchased through ParentPay, so this will appear as a refund against your yearbook purchase.
Refunds for less than £17 where a yearbook has not been purchased – Refunds will be made in cash on the day.
Please note that any money owed to the College for missing/damaged items will be deducted from any refunds due back, or an invoice will be raised on ParentPay if the money held by the College does not cover the cost.
Thank you
Finally, thank you for your continued support. Take care and enjoy the rest of your week.
