Fantastic Roofing Project with RG Kellow Ltd

This year, several of our students will be working with local construction company RG Kellow Ltd, building two low-level training roof structures: a pitched roof and a flat roof.

Year 11 students Declan, Rufus, Jack, Layton, Jude and Zac will be operating alongside a team of skilled tradesmen, who will be sharing their valued expertise along the way.

Indeed, this term has seen the boys look at the plans for the roof design, check the foundations for pipework, and use a jackhammer to break the tarmac before digging.

Additionally, the pupils attended a health and safety briefing as well as an apprenticeship talk with Cornwall College, where they were kitted out in safety equipment including steel toe cap boots, hi-vis coats, and ear defenders.

The pupils hope to gain experience in many of the construction trades before the project finishes next year, and updates will be posted on their progress every few weeks.

Once constructed, the roofs will be used by future apprentices, trainees, and other schools for training in all aspects of roof building.
