Year 10

Students are expected to consolidate the skills begun in Year 9 and to further demonstrate a level of grammatical knowledge that they can use in terms of correct phonics (sound patterns) and correct use of adjectives and verb tenses. Students should be able to:

• Understand Spanish when it is spoken to you, with a varying degree of difficulty.
• Speak Spanish using sentences with mostly-correct pronunciation and apply phonic rules to unfamiliar language.
• Understand familiar words and memorise unfamiliar words, creating an ever-increasing stock of ‘active’ vocabulary. Translate from and into Spanish. Describe photos and take part in role-plays and longer conversations.
• To translate accurately from, and into, Spanish.

Write with correct spelling, building sentences over time with past, present and future tense.

Year 11

Students are expected to consolidate the skills begun in year 10 and to begin to demonstrate a level of grammatical knowledge that allows them to reach an appropriate level for a successful GCSE pass. Students should be able to:

• Understand Spanish when it is spoken to you, with a varying degree of difficulty.
• Speak Spanish using sentences with mostly-correct pronunciation and apply phonic rules to unfamiliar language.
• Understand familiar words and memorise unfamiliar words, creating an ever-increasing stock of active vocabulary. Translate from and into Spanish. Describe photos and take part in role-plays.
• To translate accurately from, and into, Spanish.

Write with correct spelling, building sentences over time with past, present and future tense.
