2019 Foodbank Collection

02 December 2019

Following the wonderful generosity of students, their families, and staff during last year’s Foodbank appeal – pupils at Penryn College are once again collecting items for the Penryn & Falmouth Foodbank, helping provide for those less fortunate in the local community this Christmas.

Members of the College’s Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural (SMSC) team will be collecting items until Monday 16 December, and if you would like to donate towards this wonderful cause, the school kindly asks that you provide students with items to bring into school.

As well as non-perishable food items, the Foodbank has informed the College that Christmas-themed donations – including wrapping paper, chocolate/sweet selection boxes, Christmas cards, and small gifts for children – will be gratefully received.

Typical food donations include: Cereal, soup, pasta, rice, tinned tomatoes/pasta sauce, lentils, beans, pulses, tinned meat, tinned vegetables, tea/coffee, tinned fruit, biscuits, UHT milk, and fruit juices.

Typical non-food donations include: Small (new) gifts for children (soft toys, colouring books, pens, etc.); luxury items (selection boxes, chocolate biscuits, mince pies, Christmas puddings, Christmas cards, Christmas wrapping paper, etc.).

Last year’s donations amounted to 1000 food items, weighing in at an incredible 465kg. And this year, the College’s aim is to surpass that total and help even more people in the local community this Christmas.
