2024 GCSE Results Day

Penryn College’s Class of 2024 students reunited and celebrated their fantastic academic achievements on Thursday morning, as they returned to the school for a memorable GCSE Results Day.

The hard work, determination and resilience of the pupils led to some excellent results and there was a real sense of pride and joy among students, their families and staff in attendance.

Over 70% of the total grades awarded were grade 4 or above, against the national figure of 67.6%.

Moreover, virtually all pupils who were able to take a qualification left the school with at least two counting qualifications. 85% of students gained at least one grade 4 and 92% left with at least five counting qualifications.

An impressive 21% of the grades earned were grade 7 or above, in line with Penryn College’s previous outstanding figures.

Special mention goes to the pupils who earned 10 or more top grades, including many grade 9s. 29 students achieved the highest grade possible in one or more of their subjects. 104 pupils earned one or more grade 7 or above.

Exceptional results were also achieved by the following students: Molly Bennett, Charlotte Best, Erin Bryant, Isla Cameron, Jazmin Dowling, Ned Middlewick, Chloe Oakes, Tilly Preston, Isaac Railton, Avril Skittrall and Joe Wylie.

Exceptional progress was a feature for many of Penryn College’s pupils, and special mention goes to the following students: Thomas Abel, Omar Abusara, Suhaib Abusara, Charlotte Annear, Ethan, Rachael Collis, Josh Jolivet, Maddie Pickup, Sarita Ratcliffe and Charlie Smithers. These students achieved an average of at least two grades higher than expected.

Moreover, a quarter of the school’s pupils across all ability ranges achieved at least one grade higher than expected across all of their subjects, maintaining the school’s excellent track record.

Additionally, all 49 Year 10 students who sat their GCSE RE Fast Track exams passed with at least a grade 5, with 84% of pupils achieving a grade 9-7 and 11 students earning a grade 9.

In other year groups, several GCSEs were also earned in Further Maths, Arabic, Greek, Polish, Spanish and Russian.

Reflecting on the Class of 2024’s fantastic achievements, Penryn College Headteacher, Mrs Schouten, said: “These results are a testament to the tremendous amount of hard work this year group have put in over many years.

“We couldn’t be prouder of all their achievements and the manner in which they have represented the school during their time with us.

“I wish them every success in the future and can’t wait to hear about their journeys in the coming years,” Mrs Schouten concluded.
