Award-Winning Author Visits Penryn College

Andy Mulligan – a Guardian Children’s Fiction Prize winner whose novel ‘Trash’ was adapted into a hit film starring Martin Sheen – paid a special visit to our Year 7, 8 and 9 students this week.

Andy led creative writing workshops and assemblies with our pupils throughout the day, with particular focus on his book ‘Trash’, which Year 8 are currently studying in their English lessons.

Indeed, Mr Mulligan captivated students in his assemblies, as he revealed how his adventures and experiences across the world inspired the book’s characters and storyline.

And Andy’s creative writing workshop saw pupils produce ‘story starters’, with some fantastic work on characterisation.
