BBC’s ‘Share Your Story’ Tour Visits Penryn College

14 March 2022

Penryn College’s Year 7 and 8 students were treated to an inspiring, storytelling visit from three BBC employees last week, as part of the BBC’s ‘Share Your Story’ tour.

The Share Your Story programme allows BBC ambassadors the chance to visit schools across the UK and share their journeys, setbacks and successes, with an aim of improving students’ wellbeing and storytelling skills.

Indeed, BBC Radio Cornwall presenter, Anoushka Williams, and BBC South West Home Affairs Correspondent, Ben Woolvin, spoke about the challenges they have overcome in their personal lives, careers, and more, whilst BBC Radio 1 and BBC Sport presenter, Abbie McCarthy, hosted the event.

Students were then given the opportunity to find out more about the ambassadors’ stories and careers, and came up with a number of interesting questions. That was before they had the chance to use their imaginations and tell their own stories using the theme of ‘Stormzy and Sir David Attenborough being stuck on a desert island together’! Pupils told their tales through a special rugby ball microphone (pictured below), which produced lots of laughs throughout the morning.

A big thank you to the BBC presenters, research team and AV team for providing a hugely entertaining, insightful and fun morning!
