Coronavirus Update

27 March 2020

Please see Mr Walker’s latest update below:

Good afternoon.

Thank you for your support with this week’s work, and, of course, well done to all of those students who have put so much effort into working from home. We are so proud of everyone’s efforts. The deadline for work to be completed was 10.00am this morning, but please, please remember to contact your child’s teachers or tutor if there are any problems, and we will ensure other arrangements are made so students can complete their work when they are ready – it really is no problem. Also, please remember to contact us if there are any issues with feedback provided, or if you have any queries. We are ready to deal with this, and look forward to making sure everyone is happy before the Easter break.

Feedback

We have received some really helpful feedback, and much of it centres on the amount of work involved in each piece of work set. Our teaching team will use this information carefully to find the right balance for all students; we are all trying our best to do ‘our bit’ in this challenging situation. As you know, no work will be set over the Easter period, and we will look to build on this week’s work on Tuesday 14 April.

Careers and online library

Mrs Snowdon has sent Year 11 a Truro College Post-16 form in Word format, so that it is easier for students to complete.

We have also purchased an app that gives students access to a free online library – we will have more information on this soon.

Communication

Next week, our front office will be staffed from 8.00am – 4.00pm on Monday and Tuesday, and 9.00am – 12.00pm on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, we will, of course, have e-mail support from 12.00pm – 4.00pm via secretary@penryn-college.cornwall.sch.uk. Additionally, we will have ICT support on Monday and Tuesday, but this is restricted to 9.00am – 12.00pm on Wednesday and Thursday.

Please note that, in order to protect the health and safety of everyone, we will only allow urgent visits to the school. If you are planning on visiting, please call ahead on 01326 372379.

I will continue to provide you with updates over the Easter break – I will send these on Friday 3 April and Thursday 9 April.

Thank you

Thank you for your tremendous support over the past two weeks. These have been some of the strangest and most challenging times we will have all experienced, and everyone in our school community has played their part in helping out. Please take care of your nearest and dearest, and stay safe.
