Cross Country Success as Pupils Progress to National Finals

08 February 2024

Last weekend saw several of our students represent Penryn College and the county in the South West Schools Cross Country Championships, with five individuals advancing to the National Finals.

Josh, who recently became county champion, placed 16th in the Junior Boys’ race, and was the first-placed Cornish athlete. Meanwhile, Joe, who placed second at the County Championships, was the first Cornish participant to cross the line in the Intermediate Boys’ race, also finishing 16th.

Additionally, Matti, Matilda and Sam performed to a high standard in their respective age categories. Promising signs for next year!

The County Year 7 team featured five Penryn College athletes: Ethan, Toby, Arlo, Elliot and Elizabeth, who have shown great commitment to training since September and all ran fantastically well for their first race at regional level!

A big well done to all students who competed, and special congratulations to Joe, Josh, Sam, Matilda and Matti, who will all represent Penryn College as part of the Cornwall Schools team in the National Finals.
