Cross Country Teams Represent School at National Finals

13 March 2025

Our history-making Junior and Intermediate Boys’ Cross Country teams competed in the National Cross Country Cup Finals at The Grammar School at Leeds earlier this month.

It was the first time that two Penryn College teams had competed in the competition at once, following their fantastic performances at the Regional stage earlier this year to earn qualification.

The Format

In the Cross Country Cup, the team score is the total of the placings from your team’s four best runners: 1st = one point, 2nd = two points, and so on – with the lowest score being the best.

Junior Boys’ Team

The Junior Boys’ team finished in 13th place out of 29 schools. All six of our runners finished within 12 seconds of each other! Individual placings: Sam – 45th, Arlo – 50th, Jimmy – 59th, Toby – 72nd, Ethan – 80th, Elliot – 85th (out of 165 runners).

Intermediate Boys’ Team

Meanwhile, our Intermediate Boys’ team were looking to beat their 19th-place finish in the Nationals two years ago – and that’s exactly what they did! They finished 15th out of 29 schools. Individual placings: Josh – 21st, Zeph – 30th, Matty – 84th, Ed B – 91st, Ed C – 94th, Sammy – 122nd (out of 160 runners).
