Fantastic Memorial Rugby Festival
09 November 2023Thursday evening saw Penryn College host the second-ever Terry Pryor & Benji Thomas Rugby Festival – an annual competition played in memory of two inspiring figures in education and sport at Penryn College and Redruth School.
A late change in venue and the subsequent fixture changes did not take away anything from the event, which was played with a fantastic spirit and competitive nature, with the following matches taking place on the evening:
– Year 7 Penryn College Barbarians v Penryn College Chiefs
– Year 8 Penryn College v Redruth School
– Year 9 Penryn College Barbarians v Penryn College Chiefs
– Year 11 Penryn College v Redruth 1st XV – County Cup QF + TP & BT Festival Fixture
Each of the matches produced high-quality, entertaining, exciting rugby, with the Year 11 fixture doubling up as a County Cup quarter-final and festival fixture. Congratulations to Redruth who progressed to the semi-finals.
A huge well done to all students involved in the event, including Year 10 student, Jack M, who demonstrated his fantastic composure and knowledge of the game as a referee.
