Fantastic Visit to Nancarrow Farm

03 October 2024

Our Year 10 Food & Nutrition groups were recently treated to a special visit to Nancarrow Farm, where they took part in various fun-filled activities and tours!

Tours

The trip was offered by LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming) and, after an extensive tour of the 90-acre organic farm, our students had the opportunity to try some seasonal food, which included Danish apple cake and the most delicious pumpkin pie!

Activities

Pupils were then divided into smaller groups and rotated between the hands-on farm activities, which included making salsa verde, picking fruit and vegetables, juicing apples, and feeding the very cute Tamworth pigs.

Our inquisitive students asked lots of questions and also learned about the career path of the head chef and how his skills enabled him to travel the world.

About Nancarrow Farm

Nancarrow is a 90-acre organic farm which produces beef, pork and lamb. They have fruit orchards, a herb garden, a no-dig organic vegetable garden, and plentiful hedgerows. They have also diversified into weddings, corporate events and feast nights.

Staff at Nancarrow Farm waste nothing: they make their own compost from food scraps and make their own BBQ charcoal from wood offcuts. The BBQ ash then feeds their fruit trees.

Thank You

A big thank you to all the staff at Nancarrow Farm for sharing your passion with our students. They had a great time!
