Gardening Club Update

04 October 2024

Members of our Gardening Club are starting the big tidy up for winter – although there is still the odd raspberry to be had!

Apples, Apples and More Apples

The apples have been harvested, with some being used to bake a cake by Gardening Club Lead, Mrs Alsop, who admitted it was not her best baking effort! She has vowed to remember a more apples to cake ratio next year…

Chocolate Mulching

This week, the Gardening Club team started the process of chocolate mulching. They are using waste husks from the chocolate making process to act as a soil improver and mulch over the winter.

A huge thank you to Falmouth-based company Chocolarder for the husks. They smell amazing so it is a popular job!

On top of the chocolate layer, the team put down cardboard saved from recycling piles to make sure the tyres and raised beds stay weed-free!

Gardening Club Spaces

There are currently two spaces available in the Gardening Club, which takes place every, Wednesday, 3.30pm – 4.30pm. Please see Mrs Alsop if you would like to join!
