Gardening Project: Update and Donations

29 May 2023

As featured in one of our recent newsletters, a group of our Year 9 students have been working on the school’s polytunnels and gardening area, as part of a project sparked by their willingness to learn and improve the school’s facilities.

Mr Prynn and Mr Bowers (pictured below) have provided an update on the project below!

In the last couple of weeks, the pupils have cleared the polytunnels, dug out many of the tree roots, made a raised bed, and saved some of the old plants found in the polytunnel frames.

We are starting to get a lot of interest in the polytunnels, with local businesses kindly donating resources and supplies. Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far and well done to Finley, Aaron, Elijah, Harry, and Josh, who have been working extremely hard.

Donations

We would be extremely grateful if any members of the local community could provide us with the following items for our students’ gardening project:

Seedlings, watering cans, compost, and gardening equipment (especially trowels).

If you are able to donate any of the above items, or anything that you believe would be of use for this project, please contact ksnowdon@penryn-college.cornwall.sch.uk or lprynn@penryn-college.cornwall.sch.uk.

Thank you.
