Holocaust Memorial Day: Tree of Hope and Assemblies
27 January 2023Today is Holocaust Memorial Day, and as a mark of respect, our History Leaders have led informative assemblies and created a special Tree of Hope this week.
All students have been asked to write messages of hope or personal pledges on leaves to contribute towards our Tree of Hope, which will be displayed nearby our Reception area.
Indeed, our History Leaders have selected some lovely messages which have already been written by our pupils:
“It is our moral duty to create change for a positive future.” – Year 9 student.
“We hope that all who died in the Holocaust are remembered and their story will be continued to be told through history.” – Year 11 student.
“I pledge to take action instead of words in the face of injustice.” – Year 9 student.
“Never forget and never again.” – Year 7 student.
“Remember to speak out against hate crimes. Always be respectful and treat people equally.” – Year 8 student.
“Keep your face towards the sunshine and shadows will fall behind you.” – Year 10 student.
