In Loving Memory of Dave ‘Benji’ Thomas

14 February 2022

In loving memory of Dave ‘Benji’ Thomas – a teacher, coach, mentor, and so much more to so many people.

As a PE teacher and Deputy Headteacher, ‘Benji’ provided 36 years of invaluable service to our school, inspiring generations of students, members of staff, and the wider community.

Of course, the impact of his commitment to education at Penryn Comprehensive/Penryn College was felt by so many during those years, but it is also felt now, and will be long into the future.

His passion for education and sport, along with his determination, played a huge part in the school’s successful bid to become a Sports College, and with that came the new buildings and facilities that our students and staff use and value so much today. Put simply, Penryn College would not be what it is without the influence of ‘Benji’.

His wonderful achievements as a rugby player, coach, and mentor with Cornwall RFU and Penryn RFC are recognised and respected locally, regionally, and nationally, and that extends to his achievements and contributions within education. He has left behind a wonderful legacy that will inspire many generations for years to come.

Our deepest thoughts are with Benji’s family, and we offer them our heartfelt condolences during this incredibly sad time.

May you rest in peace, ‘Benji’.
