28 January 2019After their fantastic success in securing qualification for the National Schools South West Regional Tournament last term, Penryn College’s U14 and U16 Netball Teams travelled to Bournemouth to take part in the competition at the weekend.
Recognised as the most prestigious schools netball tournament in the country – Penryn’s sides faced a number high-quality private and public schools, competing fantastically well throughout, recording three victories and three defeats, and losing by just a single point to eventual winners in both the U14 and U16 categories, Millfield School.
Penryn’s U16 side registered wins over Talbot Heath School, St Peter’s Church of England School, and Marlborough College. Meanwhile, the U14 team defeated Wycliffe College, South Wilts Grammar School for Girls, and Pilton Community College.
Speaking following the competition, Penryn College PE Teacher and Netball Coach, Mrs Walker, reflected on the achievement of both sides. She said: “It’s a fantastic achievement by the girls. Having two age groups qualify for the National Schools Regional Tournament and compete so confidently is a reflection of their high level of performance and commitment to training. It was a privilege to coach and watch these girls play so well.”
All of the staff here at Penryn College would like to congratulate the girls for their achievements.
