New Rugby Festival Announced in Memory of Local Sporting Legends

04 November 2022

In collaboration with Redruth School, we are delighted to announce plans for the inaugural Terry Pryor & Benji Thomas Rugby Festival – in memory of two sporting legends of Penryn College and Redruth School.

As a teacher, sportsman, and coach, Dave ‘Benji’ Thomas – who sadly passed away in February 2022 – provided 36 years of invaluable service to our school, inspiring generations of students, members of staff, and the wider community.

Similarly, Terry Pryor – a Redruth School teacher who sadly passed away in March 2020 – was a great sportsman and educator, who devoted his life to the young people of Redruth School and the Redruth community.

To celebrate the legacies that Mr Thomas and Mr Pryor have left, the inaugural Terry Pryor & Benji Thomas Rugby Festival will take place at Penryn College on Thursday 10 November, 4.00pm, with our rugby teams competing in a set of fixtures against Redruth School.

Following the games, the school with the most wins will be presented with the first Terry Pryor & Benji Thomas Trophy.

Additionally, one student from each team in each match will be selected for the Emerging Player Award – remembering Benji’s and Terry’s fantastic ability to identify young, promising sportspeople.

All parents/carers are welcome to join us for what promises to be a fantastic occasion, as we celebrate the lives of Benji and Terry.
