Penryn College Hosts IET Faraday Challenge
22 January 2025Six teams of our Year 8 students became real-life engineers for a day as part of last week’s Institution of Engineering and Technology’s Faraday Challenge here at Penryn College!
This year’s challenge is in association with UKRI’s Faraday Battery Challenge, and pupils within each team were tasked with assigning themselves different roles before racing against the clock and putting their engineering/technology knowledge and skills to the test.
The brief is not allowed to be shared in order to avoid unfair preparation and research for other schools taking part; therefore, we cannot reveal too much about the tasks, however, what we can reveal is that each team performed fantastically well and demonstrated great teamwork skills!
Concluding the day, each team presented their work to judges including Faraday Delivery Lead, George Slater, and Watson Marlow Senior Engineer, Chris Pierce.
The scores were very close, but the winning team consisted of Luke, Stanley, Harry, Arthur, Finlay and Ethan!
A big well done to all teams and congratulations to the winners, who are now in with a chance of taking part in the National Final!
