Saracens Choir Students Make History at National Event

26 March 2025

This week marked an historical and proud moment for the school community, as our Saracens Male Voice Choir opened the Youth Sport Trust Conference with their inspiring rendition of Cornwall My Home.

The choir – made up of members of our Year 10 and 11 sports teams – performed in front of a huge audience, leaving a lasting impression with their passionate and heartfelt delivery of the beloved Cornish anthem.

Indeed, the boys received some wonderful praise, with Cornwall My Home songwriter, Harry Glasson, commenting: “Well done all of you, what a wonderful inspiration you are,” after watching a video of the performance online.

And Chief Executive of the Youth Sport Trust, Ali Oliver, described it as a “moving, powerful and inspiring” opening to the conference.

History of the Saracens Choir

A proud and rich history precedes this moment for the current Saracens Male Voice Choir – a tradition which started 22 years ago when the school’s students came together to sing ‘Swing Low, Sweet Chariot’, to celebrate England reaching the final of the 2003 Rugby World Cup.

Since then, the Saracens Male Voice Choir has embodied everything that is so special about music and sport, encouraging students to work together, go out of their comfort zones, and build relationships both on and off the pitch.

Over the years, members of the Saracens Choir have performed at local care homes, primary schools, Penryn College concerts, and even at the Royal Albert Hall, and this latest performance is testament to how powerful the combination of music and sport continues to be.
