Cricket

U15 Girl’s Indoor County Cricket Tournament at Truro College

Our U14 Girl’s Cricket players were crowned U15 County Indoor champions on Friday, following a fantastic tournament performance.

The squad won each of their games against Penrice, Launceston, Richard Lander and Mounts Bay – scoring a remarkable 103 runs in just six overs in one match.

As an extra reward for their efforts, the girls have qualified for next month’s Regionals at Bristol UWE Centre for Sport.

Reflecting on the team’s efforts, Mr Bidgood said: “The girls have been working really hard on backing up when batting and this was evident in their performance.

“It was a fantastic tournament display and they thoroughly deserved the title.”

Players of the Tournament

Issy C – For her superb bowling, taking five wickets in one game.

Daisy – For playing two years above her age group and looking like an experienced player, despite only starting playing cricket six weeks ago.

Congratulations, girls!

A big congratulations to Joe W (Year 10), Sam A (Year 9), Megan L (Year 9), Josh P (Year 8) and Zephrin C-W (Year 8) – who all competed in the National Cross Country Finals in Nottingham over the weekend.

Football

Year 8 and 9 Football v Falmouth School (Home)

There was some fantastic football on show on Tuesday evening, with our Year 8 (x2) and Year 9 teams in action against Falmouth School!

Our Year 9 players produced what was described by Mr Ash and Mr Bidgood as the side’s “best performance of the season”, with some brilliant team and individual play demonstrated all over the pitch.

Nhat, with his fantastic wing play, and James S, with his commanding midfield performance, picked up the Player of the Match awards.

Meanwhile, our 8A side played their part in a fast-flowing, end-to-end contest, featuring moments of brilliance.

Ben F’s Rio Ferdinand-esque performance earned him the Player of the Match award.

And our 8B team demonstrated their development as a squad with a fine team performance, with Brodie C earning the Player of the Match award following a midfield masterclass.

Well done, everyone!

Year 7 Football v Falmouth School – County Cup (Home)

Monday 13 March saw our Year 7 Football team narrowly miss out on a spot in the County Cup semi-finals following a penalty shootout defeat to Falmouth School.

The loss came after a 0-0 draw in normal time, which saw Penryn produce a great team performance, with impressive displays throughout the squad.

Carter G earned the Player of the Match award following his composed performance in defence.

Hockey

U12 Regional Hockey Tournament at Millfield School

Last week saw our U12 Hockey team face some of the strongest teams in the west of the country in the Regionals at Millfield School.

Despite not progressing out of the group, Penryn produced some fantastic performances and should be very proud of reaching the Regionals in their first year at Penryn College.

Congratulations to Player of the Tournament, Xavier R!

Well done, everyone!
