Cross Country

Cross Country Cup – Cornwall and Devon Round at Newquay Tretherras

A big congratulations to all of our students who took part in the Cross Country Cup last week! Our teams achieved some fantastic results, as below!

Junior Boy’s Team (Years 7 and 8) – First place

Junior Girl’s Team (Years 7 and 8) – Third place

Beth D, Willow B, Isla J, Tilly P, Daisy G-S.

Intermediate Boy’s Team (Years 9 and 10) – First place

Joe W, Sam A, Sonny O, Isaac R, Fin M.

Intermediate Girl’s Team (Years 9 and 10) – Sixth place

Megan L, Martha W, Anya S, Samantha H, Lottie T, Lola T.

We can now confirm that our Junior Boy’s, Junior Girl’s and Intermediate Boy’s teams have qualified for the Regionals which will take place at Downside School in Bath next month.

Following the event, Mr Nancarrow was full of praise for all of our pupils. He said: “We are really proud of everyone – all students represented the school with pride. Some of the highlights of the day included Josh P winning the Junior Boy’s race, and Joe W finishing third in the Intermediate Boy’s race.”

Basketball

U14 Basketball v Treviglas Academy (Away) – National Cup

Monday 17 October saw our U14 Basketball team reach the second round of the National Cup following a brilliant victory over Treviglas Academy.

The win came after a good, solid team performance, with Alex earning the Player of the Match award and Hux completing a great debut game.

A great start to this year’s campaign! Well done, everyone!

Rugby

Year 9 Rugby v Hayle Academy (Away) – County Cup

Our Year 9 Rugby team earned a spot in the third round of the County Cup on Thursday, following a fantastic win against Hayle Academy.

Penryn’s players demonstrated their brilliant teamwork with some wonderful, free-flowing rugby, spearheaded by team captain, Jack, who picked up the Player of the Match award for his outstanding performance. Mr Bidgood also named Corey as one of Penryn’s standout players.

The boys will face Redruth School in the next round of the competition.

Year 9 Rugby v Plymouth College (Home) – National Cup

Due to an unfortunate injury to a Plymouth College student, this match was abandoned in the second half and is due to be replayed after half term. We wish the Plymouth College student the very best during his recovery.

The match itself saw both teams perform very well, with Plymouth College playing some lovely rugby, demonstrating some great passing. Penryn then grew into the game and started to build some momentum just before the injury.

Year 11 Rugby v St Ives School (Away)

Our Year 11 Rugby team lost to St Ives School in their Thursday evening fixture.

The squad put in a brave performance, with Brandon picking up the Player of the Match award.

Hockey

U16 County Hockey Tournament at Truro High School for Girls

Our Year 11 Hockey team registered a third-place finish during Tuesday’s U16 County Hockey Tournament.

The players put in a some great performances, winning two games, drawing one, and losing two to the eventual finalists.

Well done, everyone!

Netball

Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 Netball v Richard Lander School (Home)

Our Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 Netball teams took part in matches against Richard Lander School on Thursday evening.

Our Year 7 and Year 9 teams won their games, and our Year 8 and 10 teams lost their games. All players performed with bravery and determination.
