Track and Field Cup at Carn Brea Athletics Track

Last week saw four of our Athletics teams produce history-making performances in the Track and Field Cup – a competition held throughout the entire country.

Our Junior Girl’s team finished as county runners-up, and our Intermediate Girl’s team finished in third position – Penryn College’s best-ever results from all-girls teams and very well deserved.

Meanwhile, our Junior Boy’s and Intermediate Boy’s teams were both crowned county champions, demonstrating their fantastic teamwork, talent and hard work to record scores that rank them in the top eight schools in the south west for their age categories.

The results mean that our Junior Boy’s and Intermediate Boy’s teams have qualified for the Regional A finals in Millfield – the first-ever teams to do so in the school’s history.

Additionally, our Junior Girl’s team have also qualified for the Regionals, which will take place in Exeter.

A huge well done to all athletes, who have taken responsibility for improving their personal bests, and shown ambition in the competitions. Full results, with individual performances, can be found by clicking here.

In what was an athletics debut for most students, all teams made the podium, with our Year 7 team finishing in second place, our Year 8/9s in first place – earning the Super 8s title – and our Year 10s finishing in third place.

Cricket

U12 Boy’s Cricket v Richard Lander – County Cup (Home)

This week saw our U12 Boy’s Cricket team secure a place in the second round of the County Cup following an impressive victory against Richard Lander School.

Strong performances across the team with the bat and ball saw Harry P register an unbeaten 69, whilst Eli P took his first-ever wicket and Rowan L demonstrated some fantastic play in the field.

Well done, boys!

U12/13 and U14 Boy’s Cricket v Camborne (Home)

Our U12/13 and U14 Boy’s Cricket teams took part in two entertaining friendly fixtures against Camborne Academy on Thursday evening.

It was a first experience of hardball cricket for a number of our students, and offered others the opportunity to face some county-level players.

A shoutout to U12/13 player, Noah R, who recorded his first-ever half-century as part of a fantastic partnership with Dan M.

Well done, everyone!

Thank You
