Hockey

U13 Boy’s County Hockey Tournament at Penair School

Friday saw our U13 Boy’s Hockey team narrowly miss out on a County Cup title following a fantastic tournament performance.

After topping their group with three wins from three, Penryn won their semi-final game to secure a spot in the final against Truro School.

The final was tightly contested, with the scoreline reading 1-1 come the final whistle, but it was Truro who ran out winners after securing a victory on penalty flicks.

Well done, boys, and congratulations to Truro School!

Netball

U14 and U16 Regional Netball Tournament in Bournemouth

This weekend saw our U14 and U16 Netball teams represent Penryn College and Cornwall against the top 24 schools in the south west at the Regional Schools Tournament.

The pupils were a credit to themselves and the school, representing Penryn College with pride, playing fantastic netball, and really enjoying the occasion.

This fantastic experience marked the end of the U16 team’s journey at Penryn College, with each squad member having shown dedication, resilience and passion over the last five years.

Reflecting on their achievements, the PE team said: “We are so proud of them and we hope this is only the beginning for this talented group.”

U16 Girl’s Netball v West Buckland School (Away)

In preparation for the Regional Schools Tournament, our U16 Netball team travelled to Devon to face West Buckland School’s U19 side last week.

Facing one of the top teams in the south west and the country, Penryn performed fantastically well in a game played in seven-minute quarters – the same format in which the Regional Tournament was structured.

A loss and a narrow defeat in the first two quarters was followed by a victory and draw in the final two – providing the squad with a great insight into the opposition they faced over the weekend.

Well done, girls!

Cricket

U15 Girl’s County Indoor Cricket Qualifiers at Truro College

Playing sides a year group above them, our U14 Girl’s Cricket team secured a spot in the U15 County Finals last week following fantastic performances in the qualifying round.

Facing Redruth School and Truro School in the three-team qualifier, Penryn’s players won both of their games to ensure progression to the finals – where they will look to become County Indoor champions for the second time in as many seasons.

Congratulations and good luck in the finals, girls!
