U14 Girl’s Rugby Festival at Mounts Bay Academy
Over 100 girls from west Cornwall-based schools, including members of our U14 team, took part in the U14 Girl’s Rugby Festival last week!
The event provided some fantastic, competitive action in preparation for the squad’s future fixtures, as our plans to develop rugby across the school continue.
Well done, girls!
Football
Year 9 and 10 Football v Richard Lander School (Away)
With participation in our sports clubs continuing to grow, we took two Year 10 teams and one Year 9 side to Richard Lander School for fixtures last week.
There were some great performances in each of the games, with some fantastic passages of play and some all-round impressive football on show.
Well done, everyone!
Hockey
U14 County Hockey Tournament at Penryn College
Our U14 Hockey team produced some brilliant performances in last week’s County Hockey Tournament.
The six-team competition saw Penryn gain some valuable experience against Penair, Penrice, Richard Lander, Liskeard and Truro School, with Penair crowned as champions.
Well done, everyone, and congratulations to Penair!
Cricket
U12 Girl’s County Cricket Tournament at Truro College
Our Year 7 Girl’s Cricket team narrowly missed out on a spot in the U12 County Finals following a second-place finish in this week’s qualifiers.
A victory against Camborne Academy and a loss to Helston Community College meant that Helston won the competition, with the format of the tournament based on overall runs.
Well done, girls, and congratulations to Helston on the competition win!
Cornwall School Games
Cornwall School Versatility Games at Penryn College
We enjoyed a fantastic, all-action day of competitive sport on Wednesday, as we hosted the Cornwall School Versatility Games!
The competition offers students who do not compete in sports teams the opportunity to take part in such events, with touch rugby and netball the two activities on offer at this year’s tournament.
There was a fantastic buzz around the school throughout the day, with a sea of colours as students from Cornish schools sported their vibrant t-shirts. Additionally, pupils were treated to coaching from players of professional rugby league club Cornwall RLFC!
A big well done to all students and schools that took part, including all members of the Penryn College teams, who represented the school with pride!
Thank You
A big thank you to all schools for visiting and hosting us this week!
