All year groups were in action against high-quality opposition, travelling across the county to take part in fixtures.
Our U16 Performance Sport side showed fantastic determination and creativity to finish runners-up in the one-day County 10-a-Side Tournament, defeating Penrice, Richard Lander, Helston and Redruth along the way, before a narrow defeat in the final to hosts Newquay Tretherras.
Elsewhere, our U12, U13 and U15 teams faced Truro School in a set of fixtures, with each side putting in a strong performance. That was before our U14 team exited the National Cup following a defeat to a strong Newquay Tretherras side.
Football
In a busy week for our football squads, one of the highlights was our U13 Girls’ team’s second round penalty shootout victory against Richard Lander, following a 0-0 draw in normal time.
Congratulations and best of luck to our U12, U13 and U15 girls in round three of the competition!
Netball
It’s was a fantastic week for our netballers, who took part in some great fixtures.
Our U16 team were crowned County Tournament champions following a fantastic unbeaten run against some of the top sides in Cornwall.
The girls showcased consistent skill and teamwork throughout the day, highlighting their commitment to netball across their five years at Penryn College. Indeed, all competing teams demonstrated great skill and sportsmanship, supported by great umpiring.
The tournament win means the squad have qualified for next year’s Regionals in Bournemouth!
Elsewhere, our U14 and U15 sides were in action against Newton Abbot College (Sisters in Sport Cup) and Taunton School (National Cup), respectively, with our U14s exiting the competition and the U15s progressing to the third round. Both teams demonstrated wonderful match play, beautiful drives towards the ball, tenacity in defence, and seamless court play.
