Year 7 Boys’ Football v Redruth School (Home)

A last-minute goal saw the Year 7 Boys’ Football team earn a fantastic 3-2 victory against Redruth School on Tuesday afternoon, which secured them a spot in the fourth round of the National Schools Cup.

In what was an evenly-contested encounter, Penryn took a first-half lead when Ed converted from the penalty spot, before a well-taken Redruth goal levelled proceedings. But it was the hosts who went into the half-time break with a 2-1 lead, following Sam’s excellent strike.

Redruth came out of the blocks quickly after the interval, and registered a deserved equaliser with 10 minutes of the contest remaining. However, Penryn’s resilience and determination allowed them to clinch a final-minute winner when Sam tucked away his second and his side’s third goal of the game.

Under strong captaincy from Dan and Zephrin, the boys rotated their substitutes and ran their own team warm-up. Mr McKinnell did a great job in refereeing his first game, with Morgan and Theo scoring the tries of the day, and some top tackles from Riley and Ed.
