Cross Country Championships at Newquay Tretherras School
Saturday saw more than 20 Penryn College pupils take part in the Cornwall Schools Cross Country Championships at Newquay Tretherras School!
All pupils performed fantastically well across our six teams, led by Mr Nancarrow:
Year 7 Boy’s team – Finished in first place as a team, individually placing: Matty V – 2nd; Joshua A – 10th; Xavier R – 14th; Harry M – 19th; Ed B – 20th; Robson H – 21st; Jowan T – 22nd; Henry L – 29th.
Year 7 Girl’s team – Willow B – 4th
Y8/9 Boy’s team – Finished in first place as a team, individually placing: Sam A – 4th; Josh P – 5th; Zephrin C-W – 6th; Jack M – 8th; Fin M -19th; Ed C – 26th; Arthur L – 30th.
Year 8/9 Girl’s team – Finished in third place as a team, individually placing: Megan L – 10th; Isla J – 12th; Amelia P – 17th; Sarah W – 28th.
Year 10/11 Boy’s team – Finished in second place as a team, individually placing: Joe W – 4th; Sonny O – 11th; Alex B – 14th.
Year 10/11 Girl’s team – Hannah L – 13th.

Football
U13 & U15 Academy/Year 7 Football v Truro School (Home)
There was a feast of football on Wednesday with four of our Football teams in action against Truro School.
Our U13 and U15 Academy teams took part in their first games of the season, with players from both sides producing some impressive football ahead of what promises to be a very exciting season.
Meanwhile, two of our Year 7 sides enjoyed competitive, all-action fixtures – gaining more invaluable match experience.

Year 8 and 9 Football v Truro School (Away)
Thursday saw our Year 8 and 9 Football teams travel to Truro School to take part in two matches.
Both sets of players demonstrated the defensive skills that they have been learning in their recent training sessions, whilst showcasing their attacking prowess.
A special shoutout to Year 9 student, Anh, who produced a fantastic performance on his debut!

Cricket
U15 Boy’s Indoor Cricket Area Qualifiers at Truro College
Playing against students a year group above them, our Year 9 Cricket team took part in the U15 Indoor Area Qualifiers on Thursday afternoon.
The round robin-style competition saw Penryn College, Penair School, and Truro School face each other, with Penryn producing some impressive performances with the bat and ball.
Well done, boys, and congratulations to Truro School’s team who progressed to the next round of the competition.
Basketball
U13 Jr. NBA Area Tournament at Penryn College
Our U13 Jr.NBA Basketball team qualified for the competition’s next stage following their second-place finish in Thursday’s Area Tournament.
The Sports Hall was a hive of activity with Treviglas Academy, Poltair School and Penryn College competing against each other during a fun-filled, competitive afternoon of basketball.

Hockey
U16 Girl’s Hockey v Penair School (Away)
Our U16 Girl’s Hockey team took part in an entertaining fixture against Penair School on Thursday afternoon.
Both teams contributed towards what was an all-action encounter, which saw Penair come away with a victory.
