Sports Round-Up – 9 September – 4 October

05 October 2024

What a wonderful start to the term it’s been, with huge participation in after-school clubs and fixtures at home, across the county, and beyond!

Check out some of the highlights below from this term so far…

Netball

Lots of hard work in training has already paid off for our netballers, with some great performances across all year groups.

Our U14 and U16 teams secured places in the second round of the Sisters in Sport Cup, with victories over Truro School and Penrice Academy, respectively.

And that success was replicated by our U15s, who recorded a fantastic away victory over Somerset-based King’s Bruton in the School Sports Magazine Cup.

Elsewhere, all of our year groups have demonstrated fantastic teamwork and togetherness in sets of fixtures against Richard Lander School and Pool School.

Rugby

It’s been a jam-packed few weeks for our rugby players, with lots of entertaining fixtures taking place.

Our Year 7 teams have made a great start to life at Penryn College with a string of fine performances against schools including Helston, Truro and Ivybridge, inspiring our other year groups in their respective matches.

Highlights have included a visit from our friends at Wellington School, with over 80 of our Year 7 and 8 pupils participating in fixtures against the Somerset-based outfit.

Additionally, there’s been success in the National Cup, with our U16 and U15 teams progressing to the next round following their respective victories against Penrice Academy.

Football

It’s been non-stop for our footballers, with training, friendly games, and several National Cup fixtures taking place.

Indeed, our Year 7 Girls’ team progressed to the second round of the National Cup following a fantastic victory over Truro High School for Girls!
