Sports Summary – 10 – 16 February

It’s been another fantastic week for our sports teams!

Check out the highlights below!

Cricket

Our Year 7 Boys’ Cricket team have qualified for the Indoor Cricket County Finals following this week’s fantastic tournament victory!

After a tough start following a loss to Redruth, the team bounced back with a win against Camborne, securing third place in the group.

That set up a semi-final rematch against Redruth, where the boys showed incredible determination to claim the victory!

And, facing an undefeated Penair side in the final, the team delivered a stunning performance, securing a place in the County Finals which will take place after half term!

Commenting on the boys’ efforts, Mr Bidgood said: “I’m immensely proud of the boys – their improvement throughout the day was phenomenal!”

Basketball

Our Year 7 Basketball team were crowned Cornwall Jr. NBA champions last week following their success in the second round of the County Championships!

After victories against Poltair and Penrice, the squad faced Treviglas Academy in a what was a hard-fought contest, with Penryn securing a narrow victory.

The boys can now look forward to the play-offs which will take place in the coming weeks.

Hockey

Two of our hockey teams took part in the U13 Boys’ County Hockey Tournament last week, with both sides performing fantastically well throughout the day!

The B team faced tough opposition and, unfortunately, missed out on qualification for the knockout stages.

The A team recorded victories against Penair, Camborne and Bude to top their group, before an impressive semi-final win against Humphry Davy to secure a spot in the final against Truro School.

This fiercely contested tie saw Penryn suffer a narrow 3-2 loss, but means they have qualified for the Regionals as runners-up!
