Sports Summary – 18-24 November

24 November 2024

This week’s cold snap didn’t do anything to deter our sports teams – with another entertaining set of fixtures and some great results!

Check out the highlights below…

Hockey

Our U16 Boys’ Hockey players were crowned County Tournament champions this week, qualifying for the Regional Finals.

Each participating team played to a high level, making for a very competitive tournament which saw the boys go into the final game of the day against Penair with both sides level on points, but Penryn one goal better off on goal difference.

Indeed, both teams produced some great passing moves and attacking hockey, with the ‘keepers making some incredible saves to see the match end in a draw, meaning Penryn were crowned champions.

Well done everyone!

Rugby

Our U16 First XV Rugby team progressed into the semi-finals of the County Cup this week following an impressive win against Truro School.

Our PE staff noted that the win was thanks to a “complete squad performance”, with the forwards providing the backs with a platform to play some dynamic, attacking rugby.

Congratulations, boys!

Football

Our U13 Boys’ team advanced to the 5th round of the National Cup this week following a fantastic 3-0 victory over Torpoint, with goals from Ethan and Harry.

Mr Ash noted how team captain Henry led from example at the back to help his side reach the last 64 of a competition which started with 659 teams!

That was before our U16B team put in a very good performance in their friendly fixture against Camborne’s A team. Standout players included Jake, for his display in defence, and goalscorer, Aidan.

Rounding off the week in style, Friday evening saw our U12 Girls’ teams host Richard Lander in two closely contested friendly fixtures.

Both matches not only provided a great learning experience for all involved but also showcased lots of emerging talent and teamwork.

Well done everyone!

Netball

Our netballers continued their fine form this week, with our U14 and U15 teams hosting Falmouth School. Both matches were competitive and great preparation for the upcoming Regionals.

Well done everyone!
