Young Chefs Showcase Skills in Penryn Partnership Competition

28 June 2019

The final round of the Penryn Partnership Young Chef Competition took place at Penryn College last week – with students from local primary schools competing in the ‘Veg Patch Challenge’.

Participants’ brief was to design and make a creative bread, pastry, or cake to showcase the versatility and nutritional benefits of vegetables.

Reflecting on the event, Food Technology Teacher, Mrs Knowles, said: “The results were astonishing, with students as young as eight years of age demonstrating GCSE-level skills and presenting their dishes with creativity and precision.

“We were so impressed with the maturity and independence of participants throughout the day, and our Year 7 Food Ambassadors did a fantastic job of hosting and judging the event.”

“The competition will continue next year, so please encourage any budding young chefs to take part!”
